The Traction Law is in effect for both Big & Little Cottonwood Canyons (SR-190/SR-210) and applies to both travel directions. Traction devices are required for all vehicles, for requirements click here.

Going to Alta Ski Area or Snowbird? You’ll be traveling in Little Cottonwood Canyon (SR-210). Going to Brighton or Solitude? Head up Big Cottonwood Canyon (SR-190).

6pm(1/8) – 6am(1/9): Snow showers possible through 3am for mid/upper canyon. 1-2″ road snow expected with high ice concerns.

6am(1/9) – 6pm(1/9): Dry. No road weather conditions expected.

Downhill delays likely today with snow showers continuing, road conditions deteriorating & high volume of traffic.

‼️Consider an early departure or be prepared for fully stopped traffic at times this PM in upper canyons. 🐍

6am(1/8) – 6pm(1/8): Snow continues through the day w/ another 3-5″ road snow expected in upper canyons. Chance of lake effect snow in afternoon could bring another 1” to benches.
